About
Jen Chan
Software developer, community organizer, retired academic and cat companion based in Toronto.
I enjoy building things with people and learning all I can about the internet and computing.
I’ve been working in tech since 2016, shipping 0→1 products and modernizing legacy systems across health, finance, legal, and gaming domains—from startups of 3 to enterprise orgs with 3,000 developers. My career started with specializing in front end and design systems. Over time, my interest shifted from focus on the experience of interfaces to the experience of building and shipping software.
I am never bored. I like understanding how systems work, and why they are the way they are. Current areas of interest include developer enablement, DevEx, AI integration, coaching, tooling, platform/SDK work and automation.
In a past life, I taught digital literacy and media arts at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and published incendiary articles on internet art and culture.
